The Lions Club of New Ulm donated $500 to “Friends of the Minnesota Valley”. Friends of the Minnesota Valley has coordinated with 25 schools along the Minnesota river to test water quality. In the New Ulm area, New Ulm Public, Cathedral, MVL, 2 schools in Sleepy Eye and 2 schools in Mankato are participating. A complete list can be found at HYPERLINK “http://www.friendsmnvalley.org” \o “http://www.friendsmnvalley.org/” www.friendsmnvalley.org
The students gain knowledge of the factors that affect water quality, analyze the data they collect, practice proper sampling and learn about stewardship of the river. Data is entered into the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency website.

The goal of the Friends of the Minnesota Valley is to raise awareness of the importance of protecting the environment, educating our community members and to create positive change.

Starting at $4.38/week.
