New Ulm Area Foundation announces spring grants

New Ulm Area Foundation, Inc. announced the awards from its Spring 2024 granting cycle. Grants totaling $82,895 were approved by the Board of Directors.

The following grant was supported by an unrestricted donation from the Scandia Foundation to NUAF’s fund named in honor of Bill Macklin:

• $15,000 to Downtown Action Team, a committee of the New Ulm Chamber of Commerce and Heart of New Ulm, for the Community Collage project.

The following grant was made possible by unrestricted donation from Roger & Carol Ryberg, and supplemented with funds from the Dr. James & Jane Seifert Fund:

• $20,000 to NUMAS Haus to support renovation of their new building to expand capacity.

The following grants were made possible from the Dr. James & Jane Seifert Fund:

• $2,000 to United Way of Brown County Area for Youth Activities Scholarships.

• $1,000 to ProKinship for Kids for leadership skills training and programming for at-risk youth.

• $1,000 to Ivy House to support expansion of their music therapy program.

The following grants were made possible from the Henry & Anne Somsen Fund:

• $4,500 to Brown County Historical Society to support creation and installation of interpretive panels for the Kiesling House.

• $3,000 to State Street Theater Co. to support three stage productions/events.

The following grants were from the NUAF general granting fund:

• $10,000 to New Ulm High School Career Technical Education (CTE) Center for equipment expansion and updates.

• $9,995 to Lind House Association to support development of architectural drawings of the historic roof in preparation for replacement.

• $5,000 to Grand Center for Arts & Culture to support creation of a matting & framing studio.

• $5,000 to New Ulm Area Catholic Schools to support acquisition of portable sound system equipment.

• $4,600 to New Ulm High School Fine Arts Boosters to support replacement of electronic pianos.

• $1,800 to New Ulm Film Society for The Grand Arthouse Series of film screenings.
