ECFE Gym Night Friday

NEW ULM — Have children who need to run off some extra energy? Join us for ECFE Family Gym Night! Family Gym Night provides an indoor space for kids to scooter, jump, play ball, use riding toys, and lots more. Join us at the Washington Learning Center from 6 TO 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4. This is a free family event.

Bedtime Stories on Oct. 9

NEW ULM — ECFE and the New Ulm Public Library will host story time for parents and their preschoolers. Each session will include stories, simple activities, and a free book for each child to take home courtesy of an anonymous donor in our community. Parents and their Preschools can join us on Wednesday, Oct. 9 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the New Ulm Public Library. This is a free family event.

Early Childhood Screening

NEW ULM — Early Childhood Screening is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Wednesday, Nov. 13. Screening is available to any child who is between the ages of 3 years and Kindergarten.

During screening children will participate in an evaluation of speech, language, fine and gross motor skills, behavioral, social and emotional development, hearing and vision, height and weight measurement, immunization record, and a parental question and answer period.

Screening is free of charge and is required entrance into Eagle’s Preschool, Headstart, and Kindergarten. Early Childhood Screening will be held at the Washington Learning Center, 910 14th Street North. Appointments will be 90 minutes long, and we are unable to accommodate walk-ins. Gem and Mineral Society to meet

MORGAN — The New Ulm Gem & Mineral Society will meet Sunday, Oct. 13 at the Morgan Public Library at 1 p.m. in the lower level meeting room.

Ed and Marsha Opatz from the Brainard club will be showing a dvd about their recent Agate collecting trip to Morocco. Everyone is invited to attend. Show and tell is encouraged. For more information call Diane Rose. 760-468-8028.

Art Classes at The Grand

NEW ULM — The Grand has recently added a fall class in a painting and drawing taught by Bernd Hillman, who is currently exhibiting oil paintings in the Four Pillars Gallery with his show entitled “Land, Sea and Sky.”

Hillmann will teach classes for ten Thursdays, beginning Oct. 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the arts education area on the second floor of The Grand. You need not attend all classes. The cost is $100 paid to the instructor and a small fee for use of space at The Grand. For more information, please call The Grand at 507-359-9222 or send an email to grand@thegrandnewulm.com.

The Grand also has a variety of other art classes this fall, including children’s monthly painting classes, two children’s gift making camps and several adult classes to be held in The Cellar Press related to letterpress and printmaking.
