Mankato Area Youth Wind Ensemble

seeking young musicians

MANKATO — The newly-minted Mankato Area Youth Wind Ensemble is looking for musicians ages 14 and up to join its ranks. Any student who plays brass, woodwind, and percussion concert band instruments (including piano, harp, and string bass) are welcome to join the group. Prospective members are asked to sign-up at www.mayso.net/audition.

The Wind Ensemble is one of several branches of the Mankato Area Youth Symphony Orchestra. All MAYSO programs are designed to develop leadership and musicianship skills that students can take back to their home bands and orchestras, while building confidence and providing opportunities for the young musicians to make friends.

Dr. Amy K. Roisum Foley, director of bands and music professor at MSU, will lead the ensemble. Weekly rehearsals will take place from 3-5 p.m. each Sunday starting Jan. 28, with the group’s concert on Sunday, March 18. Tuition is $125 per semester, with discounted rates for current MAYSO members. Tuition and mileage scholarships are also available.

Please contact Carolyn Borgen, executive director, at (612) 251-8492 or via email at info@mayso.net with additional questions.
