Nicollet County Sheriff's Deputies remove a vehicle from Spring Wayside Park located just outside of New Ulm on Highway 14. In the early morning Justin Lee Nelson of New Ulm was found dead in the vehicle from a gunshot wound.

NEW ULM – A New Ulm man was found dead from a gunshot wound inside a locked vehicle parked at the Spring Wayside Park, Monday.

The man was identified as Justin Lee Nelson, 53, of New Ulm. Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office were called to the Wayside Park off Highway 14 after a passerby noticed Nelson sitting in his vehicle and appeared to need assistance. Nicollet County Sheriff Deputies, Minnesota State Patrol and Courtland Fire Department responded to the call finding Nelson deceased inside a locked truck. Nelson had sustained a gunshot wound. A firearm was recovered from inside the vehicle.

Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office stated this is an ongoing investigation pending the results of an autopsy.
