State’s longest July Fourth event continues

Cambria fireworks launch Thursday

NEW ULM — July Fourth revelers have a choice of area events with a variety of celebrations to enjoy this week.

Cambria comes first.

For the 154th consecutive time, Minnesota’s longest July Fourth celebration will be held in Cambria.

The fun begins at 10 p.m. Thursday, July 3 with fireworks behind the Cambria Town Hall.

Friday festivities start at 11:45 a.m. with children’s games in Cambria Park. A community potluck picnic begins at noon. Participants can bring a dish to share.

The parade starts at 1 p.m. Parade-goers are asked to avoid latex water balloons and use water sprayers or other ways to keep cool and courteous.

A patriotic program with readings and music including a community sing-along is followed by a fancy cake auction.

The grand finale is live music with DD and Rosco. Guests are encouraged to pack a cooler and chairs.

Donations and the cake auction help keep the program going. Contributions can be mailed to Cambria Heritage Preservation Society. Box 24, Courtland, MN 56021.

New Ulm

July Fourth at Turner Park in New Ulm takes place from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Live music features Adam & the Jammers, The Wendinger Band, Concord Singers and 3 Hour Download.

Kids’ activities, beer and food including ice cream will be available. The Turner Ladies pie sale takes place in the Founder’s room.

Sleepy Eye

Sleepy Eye hosts a celebration in Allison Park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with burgers, hot dogs, beverages. The Sleepy Eye Fire Department will launch fireworks from the lake at 9:30 p.m.

Morton

Morton has a long list of July Fourth events. Firecracker run registration starts at 8:30 a.m. A flea market begins at 10 a.m. A parade starts at 11 a.m. Volleyball and bean bags begin at noon along with kids’ activities and a Veteran’s roundtable.

D.J. Bob will perform 3-10 p.m. Karaoke is 4-10 p.m. A pork chop feed is set for 4-7 p.m. A peddle pull starts at 5 p.m. A patriotic sing-along begins at 7 p.m. Fireworks start at dusk.
