NEW ULM – The flowers in downtown New Ulm have been planted thanks to a community effort.

Wednesday, flower baskets were hung from Minnesota Street light posts and Thursday, volunteers finished placing flowers in the downtown flower pots. Volunteer planters included members of the New Ulm Education Association, Sertoma Club, New Ulm Garden Club, New Ulm Chamber and community members.

New Ulm Chamber funds the flowers each year through donations. The Minnesota Valley Funeral Home (MVFH) funded the majority of the cost of the downtown flowers. MVFH donated funds in honor of the families they served last year. There are 297 plaques in the baskets and pots in remembrance of the families they served in 2024.

The Chamber thanked the volunteers who water the flowers daily throughout the summer months. Flower watering is done through a volunteer program with the City of New Ulm.

Starting at $4.50/week.
