NEW ULM - A new transportation service has rolled into New Ulm.

Amilla Care Transportation formally joined the New Ulm Area Chamber Thursday following a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Willkommen Committee. Owner and operator of the taxi service, Elmer Rettig said he officially started Amilla Care Transport in October 2024. He is currently the only driver for the business, but said he soon plans to add additional drivers.

Rettig said he previously worked for Red's Rids and enjoyed the experience. After Red's Rides discontinued its services, Rettig decided to continue working as a taxi service.

Amilla Care Transportation offers private taxi transport, non emergency medical transport and medical courier delivery. Rettig said many of his clients require transportation to medical appointments. He will event transport request to the metro area.

Rettig said he has no set travel range for the service. He is flexible on requests. Depending on the request he will charge mileage or time. Rettig said sometimes customers need round trip service for an appointment. If he needs to wait three hours for the client to finish an appointment he typically charges for time instead of mileage.

Rettig said rides can be scheduled in advance, but is willing to take immediate pickup requests if he is available.
