NEW ULM – Thursday May 22, members of the VFW will place grave markers in the Soldiers Rest section of the New Ulm Cemetery ahead of Memorial Day.

Tom Roesch, Commander of VFW Post 1648 said setup time is 9 a.m. Thursday. Anyone willing to place markers is welcome to assist. Roesch estimated 50 volunteers would be sufficient for the setup.

Volunteers will also be needed on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26. Weather permitting, the large flags will be installed along Cemetery Ave and in the Soldiers Rest Area. Time for setup is 7am Monday and take down will be at 4pm Monday.

In the event of rain Monday, the flags will not be setup on Monday. Roesch will make an announcement through KNUJ if the flag setup is canceled due to rain.
