No shortage of Fourth of July festivities

NEW ULM – There will not be a Fourth of July festivity shortage this year, as several locations host their annual get-togethers.

For the 153rd year, Cambria will have their Fourth of July celebration. This year they will have fireworks at dusk on Tuesday the second instead of Thursday the fourth.

Their day-of celebrations feature kids games in the park at 11:45 a.m., community potluck at noon, parade down main street at 1 p.m., patriotic program and fancy cake auction at two, and music in the park at three featuring Tanner Stark and duo DD and Rosco

Turner Hall will host a celebration at Turner Park from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. This will be the 166th Turner Fourth of July celebration, beginning in 1858.

A concert slate has the Concord Singers starting at 10:45 a.m. followed by Adam and the Jolly Jammers at noon and 2 p.m., Wendinger Band at one and four, and Alpensterne at three and five. A kid’s tent, food, and ice cream will be available.

Turner Hall Director Andrea Boettger said she is glad Turner Hall can continue this tradition for the people.

“It’s one of the most important community services we provide,” she said. “We are glad we have a park with shade people can come down to see and use every Fourth of July.”

Sleepy Eye’s celebration will start at 11 a.m. in Allison Park and gather until 3 p.m., with Knights of Columbus providing food and beverages. The fireworks will start around dusk and fly over Sleepy Eye Lake.

A parade at 4:30 will begin the festivities in Hanska. The parade route will start on Viking Street, go right on West 4th Street, and end on the corner of Summit and West 2nd Street.

Live music will be provided by Josh Norman from 5-7 p.m. and Dark Horse from 7 to 10 p.m. Kids activities will include a petting zoo, face painting, and inflatables. The fireworks will begin at 10 p.m.

Starting at $4.50/week.
