Three juveniles in Mankato treated for overdose

MANKATO — Three juveniles in Mankato were treated for opioid overdose systems on Tuesday, the Mankato Department of Public Safety reports.

The three were found at three separate locations. All victims were reported to have used or been exposed to a substance believed to have been counterfeit or fake Oxycodone M30 pills that contained fentanyl. Counterfeit pills that contain fentanyl can be life-threatening. A lethal dose of fentanyl is about two milligrams which is equivalent to the size of a few grains of salt.

The overdose drug Narcan was administered to the three and two of the patients were hospitalized. Their condition is unknown at this time.

These incidents remain under investigation by the Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force and the Mankato Department of Public Safety.
