The New Ulm Fire Department is encouraging residents and business owners to Adopt a Hydrant. Recent snowfalls have hidden or buried many fire hydrants around town and every second counts when responding to a fire. Clearing a 3-foot area around with a path to the street and brushing off snow and ice from the hydrant can save valuable time during an emergency.

Adopt a Hydrant participants are encouraged to post a photo of their adopted hydrant in the comments on the New Ulm Fire Department Facebook page for a chance to win a prize.
