GFW to decide building option

Projects, tax impacts to be heard Dec. 12

GIBBON — The Gibbon Fairfax Winthrop (GFW) school board will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12 to decide what building option to move forward with.

Supt. Dr. Jeff Horton and representatives from Kraus Anderson Construction of Minneapolis and school district financial consultants will give facilities presentations and their tax impacts.

Options include a $43 million capital improvement plan that would not require voter approval or a ballot question.

GFW receives about $270,000 annually from the State of Minnesota for long-term facilities maintenance. The Minnesota Ag2School Tax Credit for bond issues covers 70% of the tax impact on ag property to offset costs to farmers.

A recent facilities assessment from Kraus Anderson showed school facility conditions are currently poor, approaching critical, according to a GFW Public School news release.

Starting at $4.50/week.
