NEW ULM — The Schell’s Brewery decked the Bier Halle Thursday for a Christmas concert with the Concord Singers.

The celebration was part of Schell’s annual Carols for a Cause that helps raise money for a worthy cause. Last year Schell’s, started the musical event. In addition to celebrating the season with music, for every pint of beer sold, Schell’s gave $1 to an area charity.

This year the funds went to the Committee Against Domestic Abuse (CADA). CADA is a victim’s advocacy and emergency shelter originally organized in Mankato.

Jodi Marti of Schell’s Brewery said it was a great charity that needed support this time of year.

Throughout the evening, the Concord Singers sang several Christmas tunes, many of them in the traditional German.

Sheet music was handed out throughout the hall. Following intermission, the entire hall was invited to take part in a sing-a-long.

This is the second year Schell’s has hosted Carols for a Cause. This year’s celebration brought in a larger crowd than last year.

Jodi Marti said of the celebration, “if you’re not in the Christmas spirit before you, will be after.”

Starting at $4.50/week.
