Highway 14 Sanborn to Springfield detour lifted

MANKATO — Construction on Highway 14 between Sanborn and Springfield is nearly complete, and the detour was lifted Thursday, Aug. 5, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The project, which began in early May, included resurfacing 8 miles of Highway 14, upgrading pedestrian ramps and sidewalks in Springfield, and adding school crossings at Cass Street and at East End Ave. in Springfield. The project also included adding centerline rumble strips and intermittent shoulder rumble strips throughout the corridor and structural snow fence in two locations to control blowing snow.

Benefits of the project include improved pedestrian accommodations, smoother road surfaces and increased safety along the corridor.

Duininck, Inc. was awarded the project with a bid of $4,617,263.70.
