Sleepy Eye school board gets LTFM review

SLEEPY EYE – The District 84 Board of Education received a LTFM (long-term facilities maintenance) review from consultant Tim Harbo Wednesday.

Harbo said the school district’s 10-year budget plan allows for about $200,000 a year for health, safety, and deferred maintenance projects.

He said future projects include track maintenance that may include resurfacing, and window replacement projects in FY 2023.

Fiscal Year 2024 plans are for $495k including about $305k for a roof project over the agriculture and cafeteria wings. Window replacement projects would begin at the same time.

Action items approved on a motion by Brian Nelson, seconded by Sandy Gonzalez include:

• Hiring McKenzie Cselovszski at 7-12 agriculture teacher @40,488 for the 2021-22 school year plus 40 summer days @ $8,850 and junior high ag advisor at $1,225.

• Hiring Kindergarten teacher Kristin Leimer @ $40,488 for the 2021-22 school year.

• A transportation agreement with Sleepy Eye Bus Lines for summer meal delivery.

• Donations including a 1% online rebate ($158.05) from School Specialty and $19.41 from Charities Aid Foundation for elementary field trips and high school student incentives.
