Special delivery

Mothers of Pre-schoolers (MOPS) members Trisha Homan, Jilly Knisley and Irene Achman supplied food and snacks to NUMC Center. The donation will help healthcare staff as they work through the recent COVID surges.

NEW ULM — New Ulm Medical Center (NUMC) received a special food delivery from Mothers of Pre-schoolers (MOPS) to benefit staff working long hours.

NUMC was supplied with food from area restaurants including cookies from Joni’s, meat and cheese tray from Lakes on 1st, brownies and soda from New Ulm Country Club, pizza from multiple New Ulm businesses and other miscellaneous snacks from Sam’s Club.

MOPS member Trisha Homan said every year the group tried to find a service project to help in the community and they felt healthcare workers and local restaurants were in need.

“I am a server so I know the struggle is real,” Homan said “but I have friends that are in healthcare and I understand the need.”

MOPS believed the donation was especially needed before the Thanksgiving holiday.

NUMC staff was appreciative of the donation. The food would fill in when the staff had a short break to eat.

“Food is a great way to peoples’ hearts,” NUMC Wellness Specialist Jennifer Mauer said. “It is the perfect time to donate before the holidays.”
