New Ulm to host cruise to honor graduating high school seniors

NEW ULM — Lamplighter Restaurant and Lounge, with assistance from the New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce, is hosting a 2020 Senior Cruise: Unity in the Community. The cruise is an effort to honor the senior graduating class from all public/private schools in New Ulm.

The cruise will take place Thursday, May 28 at 6 p.m. The cruise will begin at Lamplighter (3rd North Street) and continue south along Minnesota Street to 1st South Street.

Seniors are invited to show off their decorating talents and school pride for this cruise down Minnesota Street. Prizes will be awarded for categories such as “Best Decorated Truck” and “Best Hairstyle.” Businesses along the route are encouraged to decorate their windows. Businesses can also donate prizes to be awarded for the various categories.

Seniors must line up in the Lamplighter parking lot by 5:30pm. All seniors must pre-register and will receive cruise guidelines that must be followed. The parade will be broadcast live by KNUJ Radio, and will also be shown via live video on the KNUJ Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/KNUJradio). Spectators may also watch the parade from their vehicles. Everyone must practice safe social distancing.
