All city, county incumbents have filed for reelection

NEW ULM — All three City Council incumbents have filed for the 2020 election.

The filing period for the 2020 election opened on Tuesday, May 19, and will remain open through Tuesday, June 2.

New Ulm has three council seats up for election in 2020: the councilor-at-large, First Ward and Third Ward. These seats are held by Charlie Schmitz, David Christian and Les Schultz, all of whom have filed to appear on the ballot this November.

For Schmitz and Schultz this election represents a possible fourth term. Schmitz and Schultz were first elected to the council in 2008.

This is Christian’s second campaign. He first ran for the council in 2016.

At this time all three are unopposed.

This year voters in Brown County will also be able to select new county commissioners. Three county commissioners seats — held by First District Commissioner Dave Borchert, Second District Commissioner Anton “Tony” Berg and Third District Commissioner Scott Windschitl — are up for election this year.

In all three districts the incumbents has filed to run for reelection and are currently unopposed.
