United Way awards 3rd round of COVID-19 emergency grants

NEW ULM — The United Way of the Brown County Area has made its third round of COVID-19 Emergency Non-Profit Assistance Grant awards. These grants support non-profit organizations that provide services to families and individuals in Brown County who are struggling due to the COVID-19 crisis.

United Way COVID-19 Fund received a donation from Randy Horejsi, (randy@teamhg.com), of Horejsi Graphics, who donated $1,400 to the United Way’s COVID 19 Fund.

“Randy contacted me about an idea to create yard signs for the areas Graduating Seniors, and he wanted to donate a portion of each sign sold to our COVID-19 Emergency Fund!” Lori Pickell-Stangel, United Way Executive Director, said. “He explained that he wanted to provide signs to let folks show their support for their graduating seniors, who were missing out on so much, and also help community members who might really be struggling right now.”

Round 3 grant awardees include:

Salvation Army — $1,000 Award from the United Way COVID-19 Emergency Nonprofit Assistance Fund to purchase gas vouchers for individuals and families who need transportation assistance to return to work after the stay at home mandate or to pursue new employment options.
