K of C Pancake Breakfast benefit for Gary Kuebler Sunday in Sleepy Eye

SLEEPY EYE — A Knights of Columbus Benefit Pancake Breakfast will be held Sunday, Feb. 23, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the St. Mary’s Church Social Room, Sleepy Eye for Gary Kuebler.

Kuebler is the father of Jessica (Kuebler) Weisbrich, Sarah (Kuebler) Allen, Brennon Helget and grandfather to Peyton and Ethan Weisbrich. He served in the Minnesota National Guard for 28 years before retiring in 2009.

After his return, it was determined that he had kidney failure due to dehydration and chemical exposure. He has been on dialysis three days per week for over six years. He has been hospitalized several times and not felt 100% in years.

Gary has been on the kidney transplant list for over four years. While many have tried to donate, Gary has an unusually high level of antibodies, which makes him a very difficult match. In order to consider donation, an individual must be healthy with no chronic disease or conditions, and have type O blood (+ or -). Kidney donors usually recover quickly and it does not change one’s life expectancy. Gary just needs one match to give him his life back. You could be the match!

Tickets for the breakfast are $7 for adults; $3 for children aged 5-12, and free for children under 5. The menu includes pancakes, KC donuts, scrambled eggs and little smokies. There will also be an American Legion and VFW sponsored silent auction.

For those unable to attend the benefit, donations will be accepted at Americana Bank, First Security Bank and Southpoint Federal Credit Union in Sleepy Eye or you can donate online at the St. Mary’s Church and School online giving website using the “KC Benefit” listing.
