SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye will celebrate the holidays with an Elves Christmas Village this weekend.

Times and dates are Friday, Dec. 13, 4:30-8 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 14, 1-8 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 15, 2019 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Events include:

Avenue of Trees: Come and view some beautiful Christmas trees. It takes place in the former Overson Lumber yard building. Enjoy the businesses/churches/organizations who are participating sponsors. Southpoint is having a raffle. The general public votes on their favorite tree and there will be trophies for the top winners. Al Lang will be accompanying the event at the Avenue with his excellent Christmas songs. He will have chairs for you to sit and enjoy Saturday/Sunday.

Coloring Contest: Nuvera is sponsoring a coloring contest. Beginning Nov. 24, go into Nuvera Sleepy Eye location and pick up a picture. Make sure you sign your name and age. There will be a gift from Nuvera for the winning entry.

Opening Ceremony: This ceremony will take place on Dec. 14 at 5 p.m. at Veterans Memorial park on Main Street. It will be a tribute to all the people of Sleepy Eye. This ceremony will include lighting of the Christmas tree, music, hearing from our Mayor and Miss Sleepy Eye. Veterans and active service people will be honored, and the Sleepy Eye Honor Guard will attend the ceremony. Pastor Nate Luong will officiate. Erin Hernandez will be singing “Mary Have you Heard,” also a song uplifting for all, then end up with “Silent Night” for all to join in. After the speakers are done, enjoy the lighting of the Christmas tree.

Polar Princesses: This event is for any little girl who loves dressing up. The cost is $35. It includes an elf waiting to be your escort. The elf will escort the princess to the dressing room where she will pick out her princess dress. The elf will then step outside the door while the adult helps her get dressed in costume and choses a crown. Knock on your door, let the elf know you are ready.

The elf will then escort the princess to the style shop. Here we have a professional stylist waiting who will fix the hair, sparkle the hair and face. Your elf will watch along with whoever is with the princess.

Upon completion, the elf escorts the princess out to the photo op area where Miss Sleepy Eye and her court are waiting for her to take as many pictures as you would like. From there the elf escorts the princess to all the different venues where gifts are waiting for them.

When done the elf escorts them back to the original location where she will get redressed and take her final gift from the princess tree at the Avenue of Trees. It is a dream event for little girls.

Only so many appointments are available so don’t wait to long to schedule. The princess appointments are only taking place Saturday and Sunday. An adult has to sign a release so the princess picture can be used on different literature/t.v. Call: 507-794-2161 for time slot or email: elf2202019@outlook.com Location of Polar Princesses is former Overson Lumber building.

Santa: Santa will again be stationed at the Sleepy Eye Museum. He will be accompanied by Jan Dittnenner playing Christmas music on the violin. Come and enjoy the museum, the music and of course talking to Santa.

Elf Snack Shack: At Krenz Real Estate you will enjoy hot dogs, bar-b-ques, chili, hot chocolate, nachos, chips, dessert, cold drinks. These items will be served for you by Riley and Jonah Krenz…they also have souvenir plates you can purchase.
