Blood drive at Cathedral High School

Jon Adema, 17, donates blood for the first time during Cathedral High School’s Red Cross blood drive. Adema said he responded to a call for volunteers in class and decided to help out. He is not afraid of needles and said he would likely give again. Student volunteer Emma Henle, 18, was nearby to offer Adema support. Henle has already donated blood four times. An individual must be at least 16 before they can donate blood. Red Cross volunteers said the school receives the most donations during the fall blood drive since it is the first time many students are eligible. The goal for this drive was 78 units of blood. As of 11:30 a.m. 51 units had been collected.
