SE City Council considers $616K bond sale
SLEEPY EYE — The Sleepy Eye City Council will consider a resolution awarding the sale of $616,000 in general obligation capital improvement bonds today.
A five-year capital improvement plan approved by the city council last June authorized the bonds to be issued to pay for renovating the City’s former liquor store into a police station with offices, investigation rooms, bathrooms, evidence storage space, a garage addition plus security cameras and safety glass in the main City Hall corridor.
Bonds bearing interest due Feb. 1, 2025, are 2%. The interest is 2.5% for those due Feb. 1, 2030.
The city council will also consider:
• Used motor grader bids. A 2016 John Deere 772G bid from RDO Equipment Co., N. Mankato, is listed at $216,300.
• A public auction for tax-forfeited property at 412 Maple St. S.W.
• City Attorney Alissa Fischer’s report for a second reading of a shade tree ordinance amendment and railroad easement, if ready.
• City Engineer Dave Palm’s report including a 2020 Street & Utility Project update, 12th Avenue crossing update and an airport lighting update.
• City Manager Bob Elston’s report including considering of replacing City Hall carpet. Larsen’s Furniture Gallery, LLC bid $11,582.76 or $11,767.76 for 1,850 square feet of Mohawk Media Spin or Mass Media, removing old carpet, installing a new floor and cove base and floor fill materials if needed.
• The city manager’s rental inspection update.
• The meeting begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, in the council chambers. There will be no open forum.
