Henderson honored by MSSA Region 9

MANKATO — Tom Henderson was recognized on Sept. 27, during the Minnesota Social Service Association Region 9 Fall Conference. Henderson received the Outstanding Staff Achievement Award.

Henderson was the Human Services director in Brown County for 46 years.

“During this time, he demonstrated consistent outstanding service to Brown County staff and clients,” said the MSSA award statement. “He has been a leader and valuable contributor not only in his own county, but also among his colleagues of Human Service Directors throughout Region Nine, and the State of Minnesota.

“Tom has gone above and beyond his required duties by advocating for legislative priorities which better serve staff and clients throughout the years. He has also been a leader and advocate in various community civic groups which serve his county, community, and constituents. His county was one of the first to develop transportation for elderly, disabled, and underprivileged people through the purchase of county vans. This has improved the lives of many people throughout the past 4 1/2 decades as they have been able to access community resources more readily.

“Tom has been instrumental in developing resources to effect change for clients through grant writing, fundraising, and donation solicitation. Through his leadership, role modeling, interpersonal skills, and experiences, his agency has been able to deliver a high-quality service to residents of Brown County with a high level of respect, dignity, and responsibility. MSSA Region 9 recognizes, Tom Henderson, for this year’s Outstanding Staff Achievement Award.”
