SLEEPY EYE — Shari Hittesdorf of Sleepy Eye was honored with the Sleepy Eye Education Association’s “Friends of Education” Award on Thursday during Workshop Week at the Sleepy Eye School District.

The award was created by the Sleepy Eye Education Association to recognize members of the community who help the school and students and make the community a better place. Every year the SEEA opens the nominations to teachers and staff. The following are the people that have been given this award.

Shari Hittesdorf was nominated by Cory Haala , who wrote,

“Shari Hittesdorf has volunteered and donated her time and efforts for multiple things at Sleepy Eye High School over the years. Shari has been volunteering her time to come teach First Aid and CPR to our students in Health classes for at least 15 years. Shari donates her time, brings in materials and works with groups multiple times during the school year. This is a very valuable learning experience for all of our students.

“Shari publishes all of our school information free of charge, activities, happenings, senior profile and students of the month. She also publishes the dances, one and three act plays, end of the year breakfast, Gold cord, grandparents day, muffins for mom, donuts for dad and 6th grade graduation to name a few.

“Shari donates pictures when we don’t call Shayds of Color for the High School picture wall. Shari helps with the Junior and Senior prom fun pictures with Dean Stimpert also the after prom pictures and donates for the after prom committee. Shari does faculty training, some scenarios for DWI before prom and helps with the Crises plan at the school. Shari has always been a very big supporter of Sleepy Eye High School and would be a well deserving recipient of the Friends of Education Award.”
