Bethany Janssen and Margaret Fliszar

NEW ULM — The Seifert-Bianchi American Legion Post 132 Auxiliary is sending two local girls to attend the 73rd American Legion Auxiliary Minnesota Girls State, June 9-15 on the campus of Bethel University, St. Paul.

Those attending are Bethany Janssen, daughter of Dave and Jenny Janssen, and Margaret Fliszar, daughter of Eric and Rebecca Fliszar.

It will be a week of learning about citizenship and government. The delegates will be involved in setting up a state government, beginning at the lowest city level and moving up to governor. Activities include political party campaigning, caucusing, debating and voting.

The purpose of the Girsl State Program is to provide Ameircanism and good citizenship training, and to inform participants about the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of government as practiced in a democratic society.
