Historical Society annual meeting Tuesday

NEW ULM — The Brown County Historical Society will hold its 88th Annual Meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Turner Hall, 102 State Street, New Ulm.

Daniel Groebner will present “History of Brown County Ballrooms,” lecturing on the ballrooms, dance halls, and bands of Brown County’s past.

The program will include photographs and other material on ballrooms and dance halls of Brown County’s past, as well as stories about their inception and eventual demise. Groebner will also discuss the era of “Old Time” music and the bands of Brown County that made their livings playing in the ballrooms and night clubs of the area.

The night will begin at 5:30 pm, followed by a dinner at 6:00 pm. The business meeting will begin at 7 p.m., and the presentation begins after the business meeting. The cost is $30 per person and is payable in advance at the Brown County Historical Society at 2 North Broadway, New Ulm 56073. Reservations are requested by noon, Monday, November 12.
