NEW ULM–A bench was placed in Washington Park Friday afternoon to honor the life of Darlene Ubl.

Ubl served as a daycare providers for nearly 25 years. Her husband, Tom estimated she watched over 75 children in her career from their home located three blocks from the park.

Tom said Darlene took the children to the park a lot and it was appropriate to place a bench there in her name. Its location between the pool and playground would benefit countless visitors in the years to come.

Her daughters, Deb Maidl and Kim Volk said many of her daycare kids have fond memories of their mother taking them to the park to see the puppet wagon.

The bench was paid for through donations from the daycare families Darlene helped over the years.
