Google workshop to help small businesses succeed on the web

NEW ULM — The New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce is helping small businesses grow their presence online with a Your Business Online workshop, which will feature a lesson about Getting Found on Google Search and Maps, as well as a presentation about business listings at www.newulm.com.

The workshop will be hosted on Tuesday, June 26 at the New Ulm Conference Center, 2101 S Broadway, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Your Business Online with Google brings community members, business owners, and civic leaders together to help small businesses succeed on the web. Dave Meyer, a Google Expert Trainer, will lead the Google workshop, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own laptop or tablet. Suzanne Johnson, Internet Marketing Consultant from ChamberMaster, will share how to best maximize your business’ presence on the www.newulm.com website, which gets nearly 40k pageviews each month.

“Four out of 5 consumers use search engines to find local information nearby, yet only 37 percent of businesses have claimed their listing on a search engine,” says Emily Harris, Manager of Google’s Get Your Business Online program. “Small businesses are the engine of local economies and when they flourish, their communities do as well.”

Area businesses of all sizes are encouraged to attend this workshop. The cost of the workshop, which includes lunch, is $15 for Chamber Members, and $25 for non-members. Please RSVP by June 23 to chamber@newulm.com, 507-233-4300, or purchase tickets online at www.newulm.com.
