ARLINGTON — The MVL speech team traveled to Arlington Saturday to compete in the Sibley East speech tournament. Stephanie Dose placed 6th in Discussion, and in Extemporaneous Reading, Maida Jaspersen placed 5th, Emma Niebuhr placed 4th, and Lauren Schauer received an Honorable Mention. In Extemporaneous Speaking, David Huang placed 2nd, and in Informative Speaking, Michael Bovee received an Honorable Mention. In the Humorous Interpretation category, Ari Selvey placed 6th, Kincaid Diersen placed 3rd, and Walter Grubbs received an Honorable Mention. Rachel Ruschmeyer placed 4th and Elizabeth Kassuelke placed 3rd in Poetry.

There were team awards in both large and small school divisions, and the MVL team took home 2nd place in the small school division.
