NEW ULM — Thursday was the perfect night for games and a movie in the park with cool temperatures and a reprieve from the rain.

German Park held the annual summer Day of Play. Seven inflatable play sets were place in the park for kids to play on free of charge. The Park and Rec Department also brought out the giant chess and checker set for the kids who craved strategy over physical action.

At dusk, an inflatable movie screen was set up for a special screening of the new film “The Secret Lives of Pets.”

The day was made possible through contributions from 38 local businesses and organizations.

The next Day of Play will be Skating with Santa and is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 3.
