Journal announces merger with Shopper/Post-Review
NEW ULM — In just a few weeks, a longstanding New Ulm publication will be transformed into something bigger and better.
Starting with the June 6 edition, the popular Shopper/Post-Review will be merging with The Journal and reformatted into a more traditional broadsheet publication.
Instead of its current tabloid format, the Shopper/Post-Review will be published in the same size as The Journal, replacing The Retailer which will be discontinued.
The Shopper/Post-Review staff will continue to work with The Journal.
And while it may be bigger and better, many of the features that readers have grown to love in the Shopper will remain, such as Find the Stein, prayers, and baby names.
Additionally, the Shopper will continue to be distributed to subscribers and non-subscribers alike, which covers 16,000 households in Brown and Nicollet counties.
“The Shopper/Post-Review has been a reader favorite for nearly three decades, and we look forward to continuing that tradition in a larger, easier-to-read format,” Journal Publisher Gregory Orear said. “As such, we will continue to circulate this product to everyone who currently receives it.”
As the Shopper/Post-Review merges with the Journal, advertisers and readers will be able to go to The Journal office on North Minnesota street with any questions or to place an ad.
“In the past, if you wanted to place an ad in The Shopper and The Journal, you had to go to two different locations,” Orear said. “With this change, it will be a more traditional ‘one-stop shop’ as advertisers will be able to place an ad in one, or both locations from The Journal office.”
As a result of the merger, the Shopper office located on Third Street will be closed.
