BLOOMINGTON — The Journal won several awards at  the 150th anniversary Minnesota Newspaper Association (MNA) Convention Thursday, at the Doubletree by Hilton hotel in Bloomington.

Kevin Sweeney won second place in the Social Issues story category, for his series “Breaking the Silence,” which told the stories of victims of sex abuse by priests in New Ulm Diocese. Karen Jensen and Tonya Thomas took first in Institutional Ad, for an ad for Hoffman Construction. Becky Wilbrecht and Tonya Thomas took third for Best Ad, for a Puhlmann Lumber ad. All awards were in the Dailies under 10,000 Circulation category.
