Analysts say Congress could override the veto, but it might be risky ahead of next October’s elections. Lula, a front-runner against Bolsonaro’s son, emphasized the importance of remembering the past to prevent dictatorships. Bolsonaro, ineligible to run until 2033, has other pending cases. His lawyers have requested house arrest due to his health.
