Brown County District Court

• A gross misdemeanor driving after cancellation-inimical to public safety charge was filed against Kyle J. Grunenwald, St. Cloud, in Brown County District Court July 19. Bail without conditions was set at $3,000; no bail with conditions Tuesday.

According to the complaint, a Minnesota State Patrol Trooper was southbound on TH 15 in Brown County at 10:28 p.m. July 17 when a vehicle was seen crossing the fog line. A traffic stop was done at TH 15 and CR 25 and the driver identified himself as Grunenwald, who said he was not a valid licensed driver due to a DWI and said he didn’t have any identification on him.

Grunenwald later produced a Minnesota driver license that returned cancelled-inimical to public safety. He was arrested.

• Two counts of felony fifth-degree drug possession-not small amount of marijuana and petty misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia charges were filed July 20 against Hans C. Gunderson, 40, 607 Pfau St., Mankato. Bail without conditions was set at $30,000; $15,000 with conditions Tuesday.

According to the complaint, New Ulm Police were advised of a man that looked passed out or unconscious in front of Nicklasson Athletic, 1217 S. Broadway at 8:55 a.m., July 17. Sitting in front of the store, Gunderson told police he was waiting for a friend to pick him up. Brown County Dispatch told police Gunderson had an active Brown County warrant and he was arrested and searched.

Items found on Gunderson included a glass pipe, small, clear bag with a white, crystal substance, a clear vile with a white, crystal substance, a small, clear bag with two white, oval-shaped pilled and five blue circle pills.

The drug paraphernalia later tested positive for methamphetamine and methamphetamine residue. The pills were identified as Acetaminophen, Ibuprofen, and Alprazolam, a Schedule IV drug.

Two credit/check cards belonging to J.B. were also found on Gunderson. J.B. notified law enforcement that his wallet was stolen while he was at Prairies Edge Casino on June 23, 2021. He accurately described the two credit/debit cards found on Gunderson.
