• Charges including gross misdemeanor 911 call interference and four counts of misdemeanor domestic assault were fi led Oct. 13 against Roberto Vazquez, aka Roberto Vasquez and Roberto Vazquez Jr., 800 Water St. S.W., Sleepy Eye. According to court documents, Sleepy Eye Police were dispatched to 800 Water St. S.W. at 12:37 a.m. Oct. 11 for a physical domestic situation.

At the residence, a woman appeared distraught and crying, and said her boyfriend, Vazquez Jr., had abused her. She told police they were drinking and went outside to smoke, began arguing and he grabbed her by the neck with one hand and pressed her against the outside of the front door, choking her a little.

The woman said she tried to defend herself, swung her fi st at him while he pinned her against a door, then he threw her down three stairs to the porch, causing her to fall on a cement sidewalk, breaking her glasses.

Going into the residence, the woman said she told Vazquez she was calling police but he took her cell phone from her hands and threw it against a kitchen table, breaking it. The woman had knee abrasions she said were caused by being thrown down the steps.

Vazquez was arrested and taken to the Brown County Jail. His bail was set at $5,000 without conditions, no bail with conditions Tuesday. An initial court appearance
