SE City Council OKs temporary liquor licenses

SLEEPY EYE — The Sleepy Eye City Council unanimously approved temporary liquor licenses for several summer festivals Tuesday. Temporary licenses were approved for the Knights of Columbus Council 3134 July 4 at Allison Park, St. Mary’s Church Festival church grounds Aug. 4, Servicemen’s Club 1st Ave. street dance Aug. 16, Sleepy Eye Brewing Co. Nicollet City Council approves summer activities

NICOLLET -- The Nicollet City Council met on Monday and approved a variety of upcoming activities for the Nicollet community and the closing of specific streets for their events. Lance Severin of Cruisin’ on Pine and 99, the car and bike roll-in event, requested the closing of Pine Street for two nights when their events will have a band on a trailer on Pine Street from 5 to 8 p.m. The dates for the band are June 20, the kick-off to Nicollet’s Friendship Days, and Aug. 1. Pancake feed draws crowd

More than 1,000 tickets were sold for the Fire & Brimstone II pancake feed benefiting the Courtland Fire and Rescue Department at the Courtland Community Center Saturday. Jeff Madison of Minneapolis fries bacon near the community center. The feed stems from Helping Minnesota Heroes, an organization dedicated to assisting first responders in Nicollet, Blue Earth, Le Sueur, Sibley and Brown Counties.

NEW ULM — Brown County commissioners unanimously approved four partial, open ditch clean-outs to low bidders Tuesday. A $29,243.20 contact for County Ditch 28, Mulligan Township, was awarded to Sandgren Trucking & Excavating, Franklin, motion by Commissioner Brian Braun, seconded by Tony Berg. Several landowners requested to have 29,840 feet cleaned out. Quotes were requested from nine contractors. Projects are to be completed by Dec. 28, 2024.
