Brown Co. speed study hearing targets N. Highland

NEW ULM — By a 4-1 vote Tuesday, Brown County Commissioners approved a June 18 public hearing date for input on a proposed speed study for County State-Aid Highway (CSAH) 13 (North Highland Ave.). Commissioner Dave Borchert cast a dissenting vote on the request approved on a motion by Commissioner Scott Windschitl, seconded by Tony Berg that set the public hearing at the beginning of the Tuesday, June 18 county board meeting. SLEEPY EYE — Due to building damage caused by lessees, the Sleepy Eye City Council unanimously approved no longer offering leases at the Community Center main hall Tuesday. Ryan Johnson, of Total Package, LLC, presented a potential plan for development to the Nicollet City Council at their meeting on Monday. Johnson’s plan is to develop twenty-six acres on the south side of Nicollet that currently belongs to Bob Freitag. Comfrey man dies in 2-vehicle crash in Amboy Township

COMFREY — The Minnesota State Patrol reported an 81-year-old Comfrey man died in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 71 and Highway 30 at Amboy Township, Cottonwood County at 10:13 a.m. Monday. Jerry Lee Evers of Comfrey was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on Highway 30 when he collided with a 2022 Nissan Rogue driven southbound on Highway 71 by Scott Bruce Burdorf, 54, Montevideo.
