NEW ULM — Brown County commissioners unanimously approved four partial, open ditch clean-outs to low bidders Tuesday. A $29,243.20 contact for County Ditch 28, Mulligan Township, was awarded to Sandgren Trucking & Excavating, Franklin, motion by Commissioner Brian Braun, seconded by Tony Berg. NEW ULM — Brown County commissioners unanimously accepted a quarter corner (half-mile point of mile section) certification proposal Tuesday. Action came on a motion by Commissioner Scott Windschitl, seconded by Brian Braun to accept a $244,650 bid by Bolton & Menk of Mankato to certify with GPS coordinates 238 quarter corners in Bashaw, Mulligan, Leavenworth and Prairieville Townships. Assessor reports ‘steady year’

NEW ULM — Brown County commissioners received an assessor update from Brown County Assessor Anne Grunert Tuesday and learned she successfully appealed for tax reductions in Springfield and on agricultural land. Grunert said she appealed the City of Springfield’s 17.669% trend to the Minnesota Department of Revenue that changed the trend to 8.1732%. “I appealed a 12.764% ag land trend to be reduced to about 9%.
