Changes and improvements planned for Courtland

There are changes and improvements coming to Courtland. The City Council worked on a variety of projects at their Thursday, January 4, meeting. Eric Hauser, representing Bolten and Menk, presented a revised 2024 Street Improvement Project engineering report for Collin Drive. This replaces the report presented at last month’s council meeting. The estimated cost is $510,800 which is lower than the initial estimated cost of $530,000. ST. PAUL — Housing developments in Gaylord and Redwood Falls were among properties selected to receive 2023 Minnesota Housing Finance Agency Manufactured Home Community Redevelopment funds Thursday. El Nuevo Amanecer (The New Dawn) Cooperative Gaylord Mobile Home Park was awarded $1,199,258.00 for infrastructure redevelopment. Opioid-involved deaths more than double since 2019

OLIVIA — Renville County will receive $600,000 from the historic 26 billion July 2021 Johnson & Johnson national opioid settlement including Amerisource Bergen, Cardinal Health and McKesson opioid distributors. The county will receive $454,000 from the $20.4 billion December 2022 Teva Pharmaceuticals and Allergan national settlement involving opioid distributors Walmart, CVS, and Walgreens. SE City Council oks 3.1% tax hike

SLEEPY EYE — The Sleepy Eye City Council unanimously adopted the final 2024 budget with a 3.12% tax hike Tuesday. Action came on a motion by Councilor Nate Stevermer, seconded by Gary Windschitl to set the 2024 budget levy at $1,694,257, $51,247 greater than last year. The final 2024 budget of $4,472,450 is $117,010 less than last year. Mayor Wayne Pelzel said he received a $100,000 donation offer from a man to be used for indoor pickle ball courts.
