Youth Volleyball and Flag Football start Sept. 8 and 9, respectively. It’s not too late to register, however, you will need to call 359-8347 or stop at the Rec Center!

Weight Lifting Classes for Women and Seniors will be offered in September! These classes are designed to approach strength training in a safe, effective and fun way to keep you strong for life. Register online or at the Rec Center. Additional information available online.

Adult Swim Lessons will be offered Tuesday evenings Sept. 18 through Oct. 16 from 5:15-5:55 p.m. Class will help participants gain basic aquatic skills and improve proficiency, as well as swimming strokes. Class will teach skills and concepts needed to stay safe in and around water and be able to help themselves or others in an aquatic emergency. Participants must be comfortable in chest-deep water and able to put face in water. Register online or at the Rec. Center

10th Annual Hermann 5k Run/Walk is New Ulm’s most unique and challenging 5k race that begins at the Rec Center, travels through residential areas, scenic Flandrau State Park and ends at Hermann Monument. It will test your endurance along the way! Prizes will be given to overall men and women in each division. Runners 12 and under will receive a medal at the finish line! Walkers and runners are welcome and encouraged to participate! There are stairs on the course, so no strollers are allowed. Participants will be chip timed by Race Place Chip Timing for accurate, real time race results. Register by Sept. 21 for your special anniversary T-Shirt and early bird pricing: $23/Resident, $25.30/Non-resident. Student rate (age 23 and under) $15. Join the fun!

Hermann Tot Trot: Saturday, Oct. 6. Check-in begins at 8 a.m. Race begins at 8:30 a.m. Activities run until approximately 10 a.m. This Kids race for children ages 3-9 will unleash racer’s inner warrior with a special short course race. Kids will run/walk in age groups and receive a special Hermann Cape and medal for completing the race! Stick around for fun post race activities! Participants must pre-register for this event by Friday, Sept. 21 to guarantee a racing cape and medal! Fee: $10/Resident or $11 Non-resident.

Tot Swims- Fridays; Sept. 21, Oct. 5, 19 from 9:30-11 a.m. This is an opportunity to Swim and play with your tot in the shallow part of the pool. Toys provided and tot slide open. Whirlpool is closed during this time. Admission is $2.50/tot.

NETA and Park and Rec. Group Fitness Training Opportunity! The following nationally-recognized workshops will take place at the Rec Center in the Herbeck Rooms. To register, go to: https://www.netafit.org/certifications/specialty/ Classes offered:

Barre Connect Specialty Certification Saturday, Sept. 22 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Learn the fundamentals necessary to design safe and effective multi-level Barre Connect classes. Leave with a deep understanding of the science, technique and 4 main components behind Barre Connect. Discover how to connect the components of Ballet and Dance Technique, Yoga Postures, Functional Strength Exercises and Cardio Training to create a FUN, total body workout. Fee is $189.

Medicine Ball Power Sunday, Sept. 23 from 8 am.-1 p.m. Needed in various sports and activities, the medicine ball is a great power training tool! Learn a wide variety of medicine ball exercises and strategies to incorporate medicine balls into group exercise classes, group training session or one-on-one with clients. Participants learn to easily develop workouts that balances strength and power. Fee is $119.

Hermann Swim Club is a recreational swimming club that provides the opportunity to improve swim strokes, build muscle, speed, strength and improve endurance in a safe and fun environment! The Club meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-5 p.m. Sept. 25 through November 15.

Open Pickleball at Rec Center Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-2:30 p.m. Memberships, Punch cards, cards or Daily Admission apply.

Outdoor Pickleball courts at Lincoln Park offer open play Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00-8:00 p.m. There is a lock box in Lincoln Park with equipment to use. Please call 507-359-8347 for the code to access.
