Monday Night Concerts in German Park begin June 4 with the Concord Singers taking the stage at 7 p.m. Bring the family early to enjoy the Puppet Wagon and the new Playground!

The Puppet Wagon is a summertime favorite for all ages, shows start tomorrow, June 4th for the summer! Puppeteers entertain through skits, songs and silly dances. Each show is 20-30 minutes. Shows are canceled for inclement weather.

Wading Pools are open daily from 12:30-6:30 p.m. through Aug. 19. Children must be with an adult of 18 years of age responsible for the conduct and safety for the child(ren) they bring to the pool. There is no lifeguard on duty. Air temp must be at least 72 degrees or higher to open.

RENU Oversight Committee’s first meeting is Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 4 p.m. in the Civic Center meeting room, 1212 North Franklin Street. This committee will meet over the next few years, as RENU projects move forward. RENU Oversight Committee will review information, options and make recommendations to the City Council. These meetings are open to the public.

Look for our new Rec On the Go program traveling to a location near you this summer! This program provides FREE games, sports, arts, crafts and fun activities! Healthy Snacks will be provided for youth 18 and under. Visit our website for a list of dates and locations. This program is made possible through partnerships with Allina Health/New Ulm Medical Center and Independent School District 88, Pro Kinship for Kids and the City of New Ulm Public Library and Park and Rec Departments.

Bavarian Castle Playground at German Park is nearing completion. The playground is ready for use! Please stay out of areas blocked off as site restoration takes place. There will be an official ribbon cutting ceremony with the Mayor on Monday, June 11 at 5:30 p.m. at the Park. The public is encouraged to come! Afterward, stay for the first night of Rec on the Go, Puppet Show and the Community Concert!

Water Safety Day at the Indoor Pool! June 12 from 1-4 p.m. join Josh the Otter, Whales Tales and Rec Center Pool Staff during pool breaks for a fun, educational Water Safety Even! Participants will take home a Water Safety Gift Bag and we will be distributing a limited number of Youth Swim Suits while supplies last. Regular admission/memberships apply.

Hermann Swim Club is a recreational opportunity for youth 8-17 to improve swim stroke skills, build muscle, speed, strength and endurance! Participants must have passed Level 4 Red Cross Swim Lessons. Club meets Tuesdays and Thursdays 4-5:30 p.m. at the Indoor Pool. Register online or at the Rec Center.

Hermann Monument is open daily for the season from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. We anticipate intermittent closings for shorter periods of time throughout the summer. The interpretive Center will remain closed due to the Comprehensive Historic Building Conditions Assessment.

Summer Activities Online Registration is open and available.

Open Pickleball at Rec Center Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-2:30 p.m. and Saturdays through May from 8-10 a.m. Memberships, Punch cards, cards or Daily Admission apply.

Outdoor Pickleball available at Lincoln Park! Open play is scheduled Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m. There is a lock box in Lincoln Park with equipment to use. Please call 507-359-8347 for the code to access.

2018 Boulevard Tree Survey and Inventory – Data collection is underway. The purpose of survey is to learn about number, species composition, and condition of trees in the city right-of-way. This includes trees found in the space between curb and adjacent property line. Expect to see individuals out in the city performing this data collection. Interested individuals are welcome and encouraged to get involved. This is a great opportunity to get outside, increase your own knowledge of trees, and help maintain the health and enjoyment of New Ulm’s local environment. No prior experience necessary.
