When you are looking for summer fun, your first stop should be the library! We have a variety of activities, borrowable items, and more to keep you busy and entertained.

During 2024, we added Recreation Center passes. We have two single and two family (up to four people) passes that can be borrowed for seven days at a time. They grant you access to our wonderful New Ulm Recreation Center, where you can swim, play on the indoor playground, use exercise equipment, walk on the indoor track, and more.

We’re so pleased to have added three Minnesota State Park passes to our collection this summer. Just like the Recreation Center passes, park passes can be borrowed for seven days at a time and grant you entry to any Minnesota state park. State park and Recreation Center passes are in demand, so place your hold request today! Visit www.newulmlibrary.org and choose Library Catalog to place your hold request.

We also offer a wide variety of activities at the library – our Summer Reading Program continues through the end of July. Visit www.newulmlibrary.org and choose Library Events to see what we’re up to. We offer children’s, young adult, and adult activities year-round. You can also visit our website and choose Stay Connected to sign up for our monthly email newsletter, in which you’ll receive information about upcoming events, the latest library news, and book recommendations from library staff.

While you’re at the library, don’t forget to check out our many take-home activities and equipment. From life jackets to board games to musical instruments to pickleball sets, we loan a wide range of fun things from our Library of Things collection. My favorites are the Real Bugs Discovery Kit and the Sushi Go! card game.

If you just need to get out of the heat and into the air conditioning, we have plenty of space for you to relax with a book, work quietly in our study rooms, digitize family memories in our Memory Lab, create a craft or scout a scavenger hunt in our children’s room, or sit in comfy chairs and chat with your fellow library patrons and community members.
