Off the Shelf: A new website and a new resource
If you’ve visited our website recently, you may have noticed that the City rolled out a completely new website at the end of last year. This allowed us to add additional functions and reorganize some items; we’re putting the final touches on it to make sure it’s easy for you to use. We know it can take some time and practice to get used to new technology, so here are some tips for navigating our new website.
First, if you bookmarked our website in the past by setting it to the address through the city’s site, that will no longer work- as you may have already discovered. The easiest way to get to our website is to type www.newulmlibrary.org into the address bar of your browser. While you’re at it, either edit your bookmark for the library’s page, or create a new one, that uses that address to ensure you always get to the right place.
Second, if you are trying to get to the library’s page from the city’s new website, you can find it by hovering with your mouse or tapping at the top of the page on the menu labeled “GOVERNMENT”. A menu will appear below it, and under the “City Departments” section you will see “Library” about two-thirds of the way down the list. Just click there to bring you to the Library’s page.
Third, you’ll notice that the location of our menus have changed. We’ll continue to work on making things easy to navigate, and in the meantime, your main menus to access our content are on the left side of the page. You can still access our catalog, our calendar of upcoming events, and our great digital resources by clicking or tapping on the appropriate menu to the left.
Speaking of digital resources, we have an amazing new resource available for our patrons called Creativebug! You can enjoy access to thousands of free online arts and craft lessons and classes, from baking to quilting to drawing, by experts through Creativebug. You’ll find the link to Creativebug on our Digital Resources page. Click on the link and use your library card barcode number and your PIN to get started. If you have forgotten your PIN or don’t remember setting one up, we can set it for you. Just give us a call at 507-359-8331 or stop in to the circulation desk.
As always, we hope that you will take advantage of the great opportunities and access that we strive to provide for and to the community. If you have a suggestion, we’d love to hear from you. We also truly appreciate the many wonderful messages of encouragement and gratitude shared with us during the pandemic. Thank you! We will continue to do our best to serve you, inspire you, and invite you to explore, learn, and create.
