Off the Shelf: Fall Children’s Programming at the Library

It is now officially fall, so says the calendar. And I, for one, am ready for some cooler temperatures while I rake the leaves that have been fall throughout this month at my place. We, in the children’s room at the library, have started to switch our decorations and our mind set to all things fall.

Our fall programming schedule really kicked off at the beginning of September with the start of our story times on September 9. We present story times three times a week, at 10 a.m. on Monday and Wednesday, and an evening story time on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Each week has a theme and the same program will be presented at each of the story times. We sing and sign, sing and dance, read books, and usually try a yoga pose to calm and refocus ourselves. We have a lot of fun while learning so many skills. Story time is geared to toddlers and pre-school age children, but all children are welcome.

Magic Bob & the Boo-tiful Lynn Marie will present The Awesome Halloween Magic Show on Thursday, Oct. 17 at 3 p.m. in the meeting room. Be prepared to be amazed by the illusions, laugh out loud at the comedy and generally just have a good time because, “This show is chock-ful of Goofy, Spoofy, and Un-boo-lievable Magic”! This program is open to the public and children of all ages.

Saturday, Oct. 19 at 2 p.m. is time for our annual Pumpkin Bling program. Join us to decorate a pumpkin for your family. Due to the large number of families that would like to participate we are limiting the pumpkins to one per family and you must be registered to join us. Families are encouraged to bring in addition pumpkins to decorate if they want. Please call the library at (507) 359-8331, to register for this event or for more information.

Lego Club is back to its fall schedule, so once a month we will meet to build fantastic creations. This month we are meeting on Thursday, Oct. 24 from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Join us to accept the building challenge or to free build, the choice is yours. This program is open to children 5 to 13 years old. Our Duplo table is always available for those younger that five. No registration is required for this program.

That’s it for the fall programming throughout October. Our Lego tables, craft table, building blocks, and puzzles are always available. Come on to check out our new fiction and non-fiction books anytime the library is open. Don’t forget that you will need your library card or an id to check out materials at the library from now on.
