In Appreciation

National Night Out

The National Night Out committee would like to thank everyone who helped make this year’s National Night Out a success. This evening would not have been possible without the kind support of our sponsors: Citizens Bank, Nuvera, DLC Manufacturing, Chuck Spaeth Ford, Jensen Motors, Maday Motors, Jimmy John’s, S & S Motors, Gag Sheet Metal, MR Paving, Design Home Center, Commissioner Dave Borchert, Hy-Vee, Apitz Printing, RVS Sanitation, Cash Wise Foods. Thank you to the Optimist Club for sponsoring the Teddy Bear Band to perform for the children in attendance.

A big thank you to all the non-profit groups that set up informational booths and children’s games. The support of the Narren, ARS, Christ the King Church, Girl Scout Troop 34112, Mandi Smith, Clare Fischer, Brian Filzen, America’s Team, the National Guard and the Forever Friends Relay For Life Team was greatly appreciated. We hope that neighborhoods will now plan to have a get-together this summer. Please contact the New Ulm Police Department at 507-233-6750 if you would like to schedule a visit during your picnic.

Girl Scout Day Camp

Thank you to everyone who helped make the Brown County Area Girl Scout Day Camp a huge success! To Finstad’s Oak Haven Camp Ground for hosting us each year. To Thrivent, which provided the counselor’s with t-shirts and a donation for food expenses. To all the presenters who came to teach the girls about ways of moving “From Here to There” – Leah Shaver, Kelli Kral, and Angel Schaffer of the National Transportation Institute who used their volunteer day off time through Women in Trucking, along with Wal-Mart which provided a truck and driver, Annie Varnes, and had the girls explore an 18-wheeler; Lori Krome of Dakota Krome Pony of the Americas, who taught about the ponies and provided rides (for many girls the first time); and Molly Reinhart, Director of New Ulm Area Just for Kix, who taught self esteem and an upbeat dance number. And to all the volunteers who came out help run camp: Taylor Forstner, Sophia Furth, Emily Groebner-Albrecht, Jamie Kasiska-Pettersen, Jayden Kasiska-Pettersen, Joan Krikava, Mary Nicklay, Alyssa Rainwater, Laura Sievert, Mattea Sievert, Jen Woloch, and Barb Zins. Many thanks.
