Citizens Bank holds 4th annual 5K

Citizens Bank Minnesota held its 4th Annual Race 2 Raise 5K fundraiser on Saturday, May 19, 2018. 160 participants came to run and walk the 5K route, which started at Citizens, continued south on Minnesota Street to 16th South, then back along the bike trail, ending at German Park. The 5K was professionally chip-timed, and there were medals awarded to the top 3 males and top 3 females in seven different age brackets.

The 2018 Race 2 Raise 5K raised $3,048.22 for the American Cancer Society! Citizens looks forward to the event growing even more in 2019.

Thanks to John Vetter for the nomination and for his, the Mayor and Christine Kotten for their presentations and to the Sertoma members that planned and organized a wonderful evening, also you who came, for all the cards and expressions of good wishes.’ Certainly much more than we deserve, but will always be cherished.

Gold Star Mother thankful for Memorial Day tributes

As a Gold Star Mother of Henry Polzin (K.I.A. Vietnam 7-32-69) I would like to thank the Legion, V.F.W., Purple Heart Organization and all others for sponsoring the memorial services this year.

Special thanks to Jacob Todd for the eloquent presentation of the Gettysburg Address and Nathan Hauser for the very moving and heartwarming speech.

A big thank you to the Concord Singers, Color Guard and the N.U. Battery for their performances and stamina for standing in the extreme sun and heat for the whole time. Heartfelt thanks to anyone that participated and all others that attended.

This year was the best and “hottest” I have seen in 49 years. It was amazing!

Thanks also to the editor for the “Our View” letter in the Monday Journal. It was so comforting and very accurate.

I know as long as New Ulm has all you wonderful people “Our Fallen Heroes” will never be forgotten. My gratitude to all of you!

Mom — Cleo Polzin

Sisters: Layette Berg, Mary Polzin, Connie Richter.
