As a result of a fracas which is said to have occurred on the Johnson Bros.’ farm, located in Cornish township, southeast of Gibbon, Thursday night of last week at about 11o’clock, Emil Schroeder is recovering from wounds inflicted with a butcher knife at the hands, it is alleged, of one of the Johnson brothers. Just what the fracas was about, is difficult to determine, but it is alleged that there was considerable ‘”moon'”mixed up with the party.
Taken to Gibbon
Schroeder was taken to Gibbon about twelve o’clock following the cutting affray, and his wounds were given attention by a physician there. It is alleged that he received cuts about the face and neck and several on the left shoulder. He was rather the “worse for wear,” when taken in charge by the doctor, it is said. Schroeder and the Johnsons live about a mile and a half apart, and are said to have associated together considerably previous to Thursday evening’s affair.
Henry Johnson was taken into custody by the sheriff Monday and his preliminary hearing was set for July 7. His bail was fixed1 at $2,000, and after it was satisfied he was released.
