Women in New Ulm have banded together and are using their efforts to place a woman representative on the School Board of the local public schools. A recent announcement carries the information that Mrs. Verna H. Miller, wife of Dr. C. W. Miller, for many years a resident of this city, has filed for election on the board. At the present time F. P. Zschunke has not filed and it is rumored that he will not do so. Mrs. Miller is seeking the place on the board which will be made vacant with the expiration of Mr. Zschunke’s term.
Mrs. Miller A Candidate
Mrs. Miller is especially well qualified to take a place on the board of education. Graduating from the Rochester high school she taught school in a little village near that city and the following year she entered the University of Minnesota. Her work at the University won student honors and she completed the course and was given a Bachelor of Arts degree which included a degree known as Proficiency in Music, she having majored in Latin and music. For the past 19years Dr. and Mrs. Miller have made New Ulm their home. The three children in the family are enrolled in the public schools.
Election July 22
The school election takes place July 22 when two members will be elected to the Board. Robert Fesenmaier, whose term expires this year, has filed for re-election. There may be other candidates for election but they have not as yet filed.
