New Ulm Police Department • Officers responded to Walmart Monday at 1:53 p.m. for a 52-year-old New Ulm woman that had previously been prohibited from being in the store. The woman was arrested for a warrant for 4th degree assault and issued a trespass citation. • Monday at 6:55 p.m. officers reported to Walmart for a theft report. A 34-year-old Fairmont woman pushed $702.48 worth of merchandise out of the store. New Ulm Police Department • Officers responded to the block of 1300 South Street and Broadway at 10:58 a.m. Saturday where a 37-year-old Faribault man who was a sober cab said that he was slapped by an intoxicated woman multiple times after she entered his vehicle. The woman was unable to be located by police. • Police received a report of theft from the block of 300 North State Street at 11:01 p.m. Saturday. Sibley County Sheriff’s Office • October 3 at 1:15 p.m. a crash occurred on the 58100 block of 266th Street in Bismarck Township. Daniel Minyard, 73, Concrete, Washington was hauling soybeans in a 2021 International tractor-trailer when he moved over to allow a John Deere harvest combine to pass. While moving over, the tractor-trailer tipped onto its passenger side into a ditch. He was not injured. Burning ban in effect through Oct. 13

Effective immediately, the Brown County Sheriff’s Office has issued a burning ban for all of Brown County. No open burning of CRP land and/or ditches/brush piles are allowed. Camp fires are allowed, but not encouraged. The ban comes in light of forecasted critical fire weather conditions and current wild land fuel conditions. The ban is in effect until 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 13.

New Ulm Police Department • At 8:44 a.m. September 29, Samantha Erickson, 23, New Ulm, was driving a 2016 Buick Encore on 7th North and Minnesota Street when she turned onto a median and struck a rock due to distraction. No injuries occurred. The vehicle was towed with moderate damage. • At 11:12 a.m. September 29, a three vehicle crashed occurred on 9th North Street and Highland Avenue. Sibley County Sheriff’s Office • Responded to a crash Wednesday at 8:59 a.m. at the intersection of State Highway 19 and 595th Avenue in Cornish Township. A 2012 Ford Fusion driven by a juvenile collided with a 2014 Ram 3500 driven by 46-year-old Philip Schwanz of Mapleton. Neither sustained life-threatening injuries. Both vehicles sustained heavy disabling damage and were towed from the scene.
